📘 Electricity Industry Amendment (Alternative Electricity Services) Act 2024

This Act amends the Electricity Industry Act 2004 to establish a registration framework for alternative electricity services (AES). It also makes consequential amendments to the Electricity Act 1945 and the Electricity Industry Amendment (Distributed Energy Resources) Act 2024.
Impact
Businesses providing alternative electricity services will be required to register and comply with a code of practice. Small use customers are also affected as they are defined in relation to AES customer contracts. The Authority's functions are expanded to include oversight of AES.
