๐ Cannabis Law Reform Act 2010
045 of 2010Assented 28 October 2010
The Cannabis Law Reform Act 2010 repeals the Cannabis Control Act 2003 and introduces a cannabis intervention program as an alternative to prosecution for minor cannabis offences. It also amends several other Acts to reflect these changes.
Impact
Individuals found in possession of small amounts of cannabis may be offered a cannabis intervention session instead of facing court. Young offenders receive special consideration, including referral to juvenile justice teams. Police officers and treatment providers are also affected.
