This Bill amends the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 to make racially offensive behaviour unlawful. It inserts a new division into Part III of the Act, dealing with racial discrimination.
Impact
Individuals and groups who experience or witness racially offensive behaviour will be able to lodge complaints. Businesses and individuals need to be aware of what constitutes racially offensive behaviour. Representative bodies can lodge complaints on behalf of affected racial groups.
