Preliminary review of E-Petitions
Procedure and Privileges Committee (Council)· 23 February 2023review_report
The WA Legislative Council's Procedure and Privileges Committee conducted a preliminary review of the E-Petitions trial, which began in January 2022. The report assesses the trial's technical operation, identifies challenges, and recommends extending the trial period to allow for a full review and potential permanent changes to Standing Orders. The committee found the E-Petitions process to be a user-friendly alternative to traditional petitions.
Impact
Members of Parliament, the public, and the Environment and Public Affairs Committee will be affected. The extension allows continued use of e-petitions and further review of their effectiveness.
