Town of Cambridge Local Government and Public Property Local Law 2016
Delegated Legislation Committee (2017 - 2021)· 14 September 2017general_report
The Delegated Legislation Committee reviewed the Town of Cambridge Local Government and Public Property Local Law 2016 and found it invalid. The Town failed to obtain the Governor's approval as required by section 3.6(1) of the Local Government Act 1995 before making the Local Law. The Committee recommended disallowance of the Local Law.
Impact
The disallowance would affect the Town of Cambridge's ability to enforce the Local Law, particularly in areas outside its immediate district (e.g., foreshores and beaches). The previous Local Law from 2002 would be revived.
