Legal Profession (Law Library Fees) Rules 2017
Delegated Legislation Committee (2017 - 2021)· 7 November 2017general_report
The Delegated Legislation Committee reviewed the Legal Profession (Law Library Fees) Rules 2017, which impose fees for services at the new Law Library. The Committee found that the government provided inadequate information regarding the cost recovery status of six of the eleven fee categories. This lack of information prevented the Committee from properly scrutinising those fees.
Impact
The report highlights a lack of transparency in how the Law Library fees were determined. Legal professionals and others using the Law Library's document delivery services are affected, as the fairness of some fees cannot be verified.
