The Conduct of Divisions in the Legislative Assembly
Procedure and Privileges Committee (2021 - 2025)· 15 February 2022general_report
The WA Procedure and Privileges Committee reviewed the method of conducting divisions (formal votes) in the Legislative Assembly. It recommends reverting to the 'walk-through' method used in 2020, where members physically move to different sides of the chamber to vote. This recommendation follows a survey of members and consideration of social distancing needs.
Impact
Members of the Legislative Assembly will be required to use the walk-through method for divisions. The change aims to improve the division process and accommodate potential social distancing requirements.
