Administering the Oath or Affirmation to Witnesses in Committee Proceedings
Procedure and Privileges Committee (Council)· 17 November 2009general_report
The Procedure and Privileges Committee reviewed the requirement for witnesses to take an oath or affirmation before Legislative Council committees. The committee found the existing Witness Information Sheet and the oath taken by Members of Parliament are sufficient. It recommends revoking the 2007 order mandating oaths for all witnesses.
Impact
This affects witnesses appearing before WA Legislative Council committees, including Members of Parliament, and simplifies committee procedures.
