Changes to the Speaker's Procedural Rules: Enhancing Procedural Fairness
Procedure and Privileges Committee (2013 - 2017)· 5 December 2013general_report
The Procedure and Privileges Committee report re-endorses recommendations from a 2010 report to amend the Speaker's Procedural Rules. These amendments aim to enhance procedural fairness for witnesses appearing before parliamentary committees by notifying them of significant adverse references and findings and providing an opportunity to respond. The report was tabled in December 2013.
Impact
Witnesses appearing before WA parliamentary committees will have increased procedural fairness. The Parliament itself will need to adopt the amended rules.
