In accordance with section 36(1)(b) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, the Minister for the Environment directs the Environmental Protection Authority to defer the completion of the review of the Environmental Protection (Western Swamp Tortoise Habitat) Policy 2011 until 30 november 2026. This is due to delays in drafting of the new draft Environmental Protection (Western Swamp Tortoise Habitat) Policy under Part III of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, to allow sufficient time for consultation on the draft, and to take into account complexities of the legislative drafting process, including drafting priority and the availability of drafting resources.
