Water—Data centres
261. Hon Jess Beckerling to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Water:
I refer to the
government's November 2022 data centre prospectus and, in particular, page 4,
which references large-scale demand management and water supply initiatives to
meet the needs of people in industries.
(1) What modelling has been done by the
Water Corporation in anticipation of an increase in data centre builds in Western
Australia?
(2) Have any limits been set for the data
centre industry in terms of water take?
(3) If yes to (2), what are those limits?
(4) If no to (2), why not?
(5) What risk modelling has been done by
the government to mitigate the impact of data centres on WA's drinking water
supply?
