TAFE—Funding
251. Hon Tjorn Sibma to
the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Skills and TAFE:
I refer to the
minister's 1 May media statement "Cook Labor government delivers $216m
TAFE and training boost" .
(1) What proportion of the $124 million to
continue current fee settings into 2027, including fee-free and lower fee TAFE
courses is new money, and what is the funding split between the Commonwealth
and state governments?
(2) How many enrolments will this funding
support overall?
(3) How many enrolments will this funding
support by specific course titles in the priority industries of building,
construction and clean energy?
(4) How many enrolments in courses
unrelated to these priority industries will this funding support, and which
courses are these?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(4) A sum of $124 million has been committed
in the 2026–27 state budget to continue current fee settings into 2027.
Commonwealth funding contributions are made in line with the National Skills
Agreement and fee-free TAFE agreement. Training is demand driven, and
enrolments are dependent on course mix and delivery location.
