Question

I refer to the Geraldton Radiation Oncology Unit, and I ask:(a) What is the estimated completion date for the unit;(b) When are site works commencing;(c) What are the reasons for the budget increasing for this project; and(d) What was involved in the planning stages for the project?

Answer

The Geraldton Health Campus Redevelopment Project is the biggest redevelopment of the facility since the early 2000s under the previous Gallop Labor Government. (a-b) Site preparatory works such as earthworks and demolition have begun. Further announcements will be made in due course. (c) Planning money for the project was allocated in the 2025-26 State Budget alongside a Commonwealth contribution. The budget increase at the 2025-26 Mid Year Review reflects the decision to leverage existing contractual arrangements at the Geraldton Health Campus Redevelopment Project to deliver the oncology unit. This allowed construction work to commence sooner. (d) Planning work involved determining project scope, service requirements, procurement methods, scheduling and design work. This was completed in collaboration with the Department of Health and WA Country Health Service.
