Seawater desalination plant—Esperance and Goldfields
171. Mr Peter Rundle to
the Minister for Water:
I have a
supplementary question. Given that the Kalgoorlie pipeline upgrade will deliver
only around a 10% increase in supply, is it not clear that the government has
no credible long-term plan to secure more water for the Goldfields?

Does the member want
me to go through the list of what we are doing right around regional Western
Australia again? The Goldfields scheme is based on good engineering and
predictive advice from the Water Corporation, and it incorporates increased
storage capacity at Kalgoorlie, which is a very sound engineering and economic
option for the future of the Goldfields.
