Fuel supply—National reserve
168. Mr Shane Love to
the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I have a
supplementary question. Could the minister please find out just how much of
that drawdown from the federal reserve will be dedicated to Western Australia?

AnswerView source ↗

The suppliers' fuel
will be available for purchase, so as much as they require and need to purchase
to restock will be available. I will give the member a great example in Alinta
Energy of industry leaning in and stepping up. As the Premier outlined, Alinta
identified that it has 800,000 litres of excess diesel that it does not need.
Given the framework that we have stood up, it is able to actually direct that
to the areas that need it most. It has worked with us to redirect that fuel and
100,000 litres will go directly to Dandaragan to support farming communities
there. Great Southern Fuels will release 100,000 litres to its independent
operators in that area and we are working to prioritise another 600,000 litres.
Essentially, the fuel is still flowing and the supply chain will run, but the minimum
stockholding obligation release will allow that backfilling that is required in
those end of—
Mr Shane Love: How much of that release will be
for Western Australians?
Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson: I think they really do not
like the fact that we have got answers to this.

Central Wheatbelt!
Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson: The Premier has acted
quickly, listened to the concerns and established the industry operation group.
We are one of the best placed states to distribute that fuel as soon as it is
released by the Commonwealth.
