Question

I refer to Recommendation 15 of the Education and Health Standing Committee's Report on Health and Medical Research in WA (28 October 2024), which states: "The Department of Health in conjunction with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development considers directing more resources to furthering best practice methods of research in WA," and I ask:(a) what steps has the Department of Health taken to implement this recommendation;(b) what specific best practice research methods, if any, has this resourcing advanced;(c) has resourcing been increased; and(d) if yes to (c):(i) by what amount; and(ii) when?

Answer

(a) – (d) The report was tabled in the Legislative Assembly at the end of October 2024, shortly before the Governor General prorogued State Parliament on the 17 th of December 2024 and Government transitioned into the caretaker period prior to the State General Election. Due to the proroguing of State Parliament, all Committees were suspended and as such the Government was not required to respond to the recommendations handed down in the report.
