secretary representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the
granting of bail in Western Australia in the last 12 months.
(1) How many individuals were granted
bail?
(2) How many of those individuals were
charged with multiple unrelated offences?
(3) How many of those individuals were
charged with offences resulting in serious injury to a victim?
(4) How many of those individuals were
charged with offences resulting in the death of a victim?

(1) Historical information in relation to
bail would need to be manually extracted from the case management system. This
is a resource intensive task requiring diversion of staff from core duties and,
as a result, this information cannot be provided.
(2) The department cannot make a
determination as to whether offences are unrelated.
(3)–(4) Without
manually interrogating every offence in order to compile a list, it is not
possible for the department to provide this data.
