Main Roads—Projects
303. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to Westport
Beacon issue 8 page 4, which lists six unfunded and uncommitted Main Roads
projects estimated to cost about $2.3 billion at the time. For each of the
projects listed below, can the minister please provide the most recent revised
cost for each project, including the date the last cost was revised? The
projects are:
(a) the widening of Stirling Highway,
estimated at $250 million;
(b) the grade separation of Stock Road,
estimated at $70 million;
(c) upgrading Roe Highway, estimated at
$350 million;
(d) constructing the Curtin Avenue Link,
estimated at $600 million;
(e) duplicating the West Coast Highway,
estimated at $50 million; and
(f) enhancing Stock Road to a six-lane
freeway, estimated at $1 billion?
The President: It does not matter how fast you read it
out; it is still a long question.

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
As these estimates
would involve a manual search of multiple systems. Main Roads Western Australia
advises that provision of this detailed information would require considerable
time and require more time in order to respond accurately. I ask that this question
please be put on notice.
