I understand $43.2m has been allocated for the Ambulance Mental Health Co response initiative which aims to divert people
experiencing mental health issues away from Emergency Departments. Can the Minister advise:
(a) It appears that $4.9m is to be spent in 2025-26, however the 2025-26 Budget Papers make no reference to this initiative, so is its inclusion now finally an admission that ambulance ramping is out of control;
(b) When did the initiative commence and is it across all Emergency departments or a select few, if so which ones;
(c) If it has been operational in 2025-26 as the Budget Papers indicate, what so far have been the results in diverting mental health patients from Emergency Departments; and
(d) Given this investment, what is the reduction in ambulance ramping expected?
