Question

I refer to the Report on Overseas Air Travel for the 3 months to 31 December 2024 and travel for C Cutri from Development WA to travel to China from 29 November to 6 December 2024 for the inspection of prototype materials required as part of the certification process for a cost of $123. Can the Minister advise:(a) What certification process is being referred to and for what purpose;(b) What prototype materials are being inspected;(c) How is this certification process relevant to Western Australia;(d) Is this certification process or similar available elsewhere in Australia;(e) Why was the cost of an international trip $123; and(f) What benefits accrue to the State from such an inspection and process?

Answer

(a) The inspection included elements required for the Pier St project and ensured compliance with Australian Standard. (b) Façade elements, window frames, balcony doors and curtain wall systems that could not be sourced via Australian suppliers at the required volume. (c-d) N/A. (e) The builder funded the travel costs as standard practice. The $123 was for incidentals only.
