I do not support the
RBA raising interest rates. I think there is plenty of evidence out there to
show that we are receiving a price shock when it comes to the cost of fuel, and
that is having an impact in relation to interest rates. I think there are a lot
of commentators out there who say that the RBA should have held its hand until
it saw a longer trend in relation to inflation, but it has made its decision,
and I get that. But, clearly, what members of the opposition are saying is that
not only do they oppose cost-of-living measures, but also they support the RBA
in raising interest rates. They want the RBA to raise interest rates, and this
is it. They do not care. They do not care about ordinary Western Australians—the
people out there who are struggling with mortgages and other loans. They are
just happy to see them suffer. We do not. We are not happy. We are going to
support those who are doing it tough. Our cost-of-living measures are an
important way we can help those in our community, and we will continue to do
so.
