Question

I refer to increasing demand on WA Police to respond to incidents of family and domestic violence in 2024-25, and I ask:(a) given this increase, how has demand impacted operational capacity within WA Police, including workload, response times and officer availability;(b) given this increase, what assessment has been undertaken of the impact on the ability of police to complete full and accurate risk assessments;(c) what additional resources have been allocated; and(d) has demand impacted frontline risk assessment practices?

Answer

(a) Over the past 12 months, the WA Police Force has implemented a range of state-wide coordinated management initiatives to ensure frontline resources are available to respond to core policing functions, including response to family and domestic violence (FDV) incidents. These initiatives have maintained Police Officer capacity and responsiveness to critical Police responsibilities, including Family Violence. (b) The focus on agency capability and responsiveness has maintained the response to FDV risk assessments. (c) From 2024–25, additional resources allocated to family violence response include: (d) No.
