Hon Amanda Dorn questions the DPLH's installation of fencing at 95-99 Woodvale Drive without notifying the City of Joondalup, raising concerns about compliance with planning conditions and the welfare of kangaroos. The Parliamentary Secretary replies that the fencing was a condition of subdivision approval and exempt from development approval.

Woodvale—Fauna management plan381.Hon Amanda Dornto
theparliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Planning and Lands:I refer to the City
of Joondalup's fauna management plan condition at 95–99 Woodvale Drive,
Woodvale, and reports that the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH)
installed fencing at the site without notification to the city and that works
have since proceeded.(1) On what basis did DPLH install, or
coordinate installation of, fencing at this site without notification to the
City of Joondalup?(2) What action will the minister take in
response to works proceeding at the site before the City of Joondalup's
planning conditions were satisfied, noting the death of one western grey
kangaroo at the site and others displaying stress symptoms following the fence
installation and, if none, why?(3) Will the minister direct DPLH to
provide a written account of all actions taken at this site and whether those
actions were consistent with the City of Joondalup's planning conditions and,
if not, why not?
