Hon Stephen Dawson replied:I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.(1) There are eight contracts for heads of department that expire during this term of government.(2) (a)–(b) At least nine months prior to the expiry of the period of appointment, the Public Sector Commissioner, as the employing authority, and the head of department enter into discussions with a view to reaching agreement as to whether the head of department shall be reappointed for a further period.
