(1) Does the Western Australian Government currently have a strategy or policy to increase the use of biofuels in Western Australia:(a) If yes, will the Minister outline the key targets, timelines, and sectors identified for increased biofuel use; and(b) If no, has the Government considered introducing a biofuels mandate or target similar to those operating in NSW and Queensland?(2) What assessment has been undertaken by the Government regarding the role of biofuels in reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy transport, aviation, Agriculture and Mining?(3) What assessment has the Western Australian Government undertaken regarding the potential for locally produced biofuels derived from forestry, agricultural residues, wood waste, or other biomass feedstocks?(4) Is the Government aware of any companies operating or proposing to operate biofuel production facilities in Western Australia using forestry and / or agricultural by-products or wood residues?(5) What specific State Government programs, grants, or investment incentives are currently available to support the development of a biofuel manufacturing in Western Australia?(6) Has the Government considered specific policy settings to support the utilisation of forestry and agricultural residues for bioenergy or biofuel production?(7) What opportunities has the Government identified to increase the utilisation of forestry and agricultural residues for renewable fuels or energy production?(8) Has the Western Australian Government established or provided any funding, grants, or financial assistance to support the development of biofuel production or biofuel technologies in Western Australia since 2021:(a) If yes, can the Minister outline:(i) the funding program which has been established and how much support has been provided to-date;(ii) the recipient organisation(s);(iii) the projects funded; and; and(iv) the total amount of funding provided for these projects?(9) Are there currently any State Government funding programs available to support the establishment or expansion of biofuel production facilities in Western Australia:(a) If yes, what is the total funding allocated to these programs that will be delivered in Western Australia?(10) Has the Western Australian Government considered allocating funding to support the development of a biofuel manufacturing industry in Western Australia:(a) If yes, what programs or initiatives are currently under consideration specific for Western Australia?(11) Has the Government undertaken any economic analysis regarding the potential benefits of establishing a biofuel industry in Western Australia?(12) Has the Western Australian Government funded or supported any research, feasibility studies, or pilot projects relating to the production of biofuels or bioenergy from biomass since 2021:(a) If yes, will the Minister outline:(i) the organisation undertaking the work;(ii) the project description; and(iii) the value of the funding provided?(13) What proportion of the Western Australian Government’s clean energy or decarbonisation funding has been allocated to projects involving biofuels or bioenergy?(14) What assessment has the Government undertaken regarding the role of biofuels in achieving the State’s emissions reduction targets?(15) Is the Minister aware of the Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund – Low Carbon Liquid Fuels (LCLF) being administered by ARENA:(a) If so, what steps has the government taken to ensure that Western Australia gets its fair share of the funding available under this Commonwealth program?(16) Apart from the ARENA funding is the Government of Western Australia aware of any other funding under any Commonwealth programs to support the development of a biofuel industry:(a) If yes, can the Minister outline:(i) the Commonwealth program(s);(ii) the project(s) or proposal supported; and(iii) the level of funding provided and / or sought; and(b) If no, why has the Western Australian Government not sought funding from these programmes to support the development of a biofuel industry in Western Australia?(17) How much Commonwealth funding has been secured for biofuel or bioenergy projects located in Western Australia since 2021?(18) Which projects or organisations have received this funding?(19) What role, if any, did the Western Australian Government play in supporting these applications?
