The 2026-27 Budget Papers present a number of performance indicators where the estimated actual for
2025-26 is better than target – which is pleasing – and others that worse
than target. Acknowledging that there still may be some adjustment
to the data (based on the explanatory notes provided), there are
some specific indicators for which comment is sought. Can the Minister comment on the following variations and what specifically can be done to improve performance:
(a) 20.3% of the population is identified with high or very high levels of psychological distress, more than the target of 18%;
(b) 13.8% readmissions to acute specialised mental health inpatient services within 28 days of discharge, above the target of 12%; and
(c) 71.2% of closed AOD treatment episodes completed as planned, below the target of 76%?
