I refer to water quality and environmental monitoring of the
Leschenault Estuary, and I ask:
(a) Does the Department of
Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and/or the Department of
Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) collect data relating to the
turbidity, water clarity, or other measures of water quality within the
Leschenault Estuary;
(b) If yes to (a):
(i) What specific parameters are
monitored;
(ii) How frequently is monitoring undertaken;
(iii) At which locations within the estuary is monitoring conducted; and
(iv) Is this monitoring ongoing;
(c) Does DBCA and/or DWER collect
data or undertake assessments relating to the broader ecological health of the
Leschenault Estuary, including but not limited to:
(i) Water quality;
(ii) Nutrient levels;
(iii) Seagrass extent and condition;
(iv) Fish and aquatic fauna populations;
(v) Algal blooms; and
(vi) Estuarine ecosystem health indicators;
(d) If yes to (c):
(i) What datasets, reports, or assessments have been produced in the last five years;
(ii) Are these publicly available; and
(iii) If not, why not;
(e) Will the Government publish any existing or future monitoring data and assessments relating to the turbidity, water clarity, water quality, and ecological health of the Leschenault Estuary in a publicly accessible format; and
(f) If no to (e), why not?
