Minister for men's interests
196. Hon Rod Caddies to
the Leader of the House representing the
Premier:
I refer to the
significant challenges facing men and boys in Western Australia, including
persistently high male suicide rates, elevated incarceration rates for men and
poor educational outcomes for boys.
(1) Will the Premier appoint a dedicated
minister for men's interests to address these and other gender-specific issues
affecting men and boys in the same way that the government has a Minister for
Women?
(2) If not,
what are the reasons for not doing so, particularly given the existence of the "Western
Australian men's health and wellbeing policy" and the ongoing
disparities in the key outcomes for men?
