Griffin Coal
330. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for State Development:
I refer to the
minister's answer to my questions without notice 1289 and 292, asked on 11
December 2025 and 5 May 2026, on the government's subsidies paid to
Griffin Coal to cover its operating losses.
(1) Can the minister confirm that by 11
December 2025, $209.1 million had been provided to the receivers and
managers of Griffin Coal, and since then, only $7.4 million has been
provided?
(2) Why has the amount subsidised dropped
for an average of $6 million a month from the end of 2022 to December 2025
to less than $2 million a month since then?
(3) Have all
applications of funding from Griffin Coal under the subsidy been fully paid
since 11 December 2025?
(4) If no to (3), what is the total of
all unpaid applications and outstanding applications?
