Question

Fiona Stanley Hospital—Parking15.Hon Philip Scottto theparliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health Infrastructure:Last week, I received correspondence from a nurse who is experiencing parking issues from the current building works at Fiona Stanley Hospital.(1) What is the current designated staff parking capacity at Fiona Stanley Hospital?(2) What arrangements have been put in place to subsidise the parking arrangements for nursing staff?(3) What measures have been taken to ensure the safety of staff when returning to their offsite parked car at night?(4) Can the minister provide an update on the expected completion of the new multi-deck car park at Fiona Stanley Hospital?

Answer

Hon Dr Katrina Stratton replied:I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for Health Infrastructure.(1) There are 3,477 bays available to staff, with 2,377 onsite, some of which are also available to visitors and patients, and 1,100 temporary bays at offsite locations for staff only.(2) Staff who have moved to a temporary offsite parking location have received a reduction in parking costs, while those who have temporarily given up their parking permits have received fully subsidised public transport permits, or access to a more flexible parking/public transport arrangement linked to theCorporate SmartRider program. All healthcare workers are eligible for discounted public transport to andfrom work and the hospital site is adjacent to a train station.(3) Security staff regularly patrol the car parks, and staff are provided the option for a security staff member to accompany them to their car at any time. Shift workers are prioritised for the existing onsite parking available. Offsite temporary parking is allocated to staff who currently hold primary carer parking permits or work standard business hours. Regular shuttle buses are available to and from the campus from the temporary sites.(4) The first new multi-deck car park is scheduled to open in 2027 and will provide approximately 1,500 car bays.
