Question
I refer to the Report on Overseas Air Travel for the 3 months to 31 December 2024 and a trip to South Korea and China by R Ho from 4 to 24 October 2024 for $13,721 to plan and deliver a successful Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM). Can the Minister please advise:(a) What is the APAM;(b) When is it to be delivered; and(c) What are the benefits to the State of the APAM being delivered?
Answer
(a) The Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) is a strategic initiative of Creative Australia and is Australia’s leading internationally focused industry event designed to showcase Australian and New Zealand theatre, contemporary dance and experimental performing arts. Established in 1994, APAM was created to expand national and international touring opportunities for Australian performing arts companies and artists.
(b) APAM will take place in Perth, Western Australia (WA) in 2026, 2028 and 2030. This is the first time APAM will be hosted by WA in its 32-year history. APAM 2026 took place in Perth from 23 February 2026 to 27 February 2026.
(c) Hosting APAM in WA delivers significant cultural, economic and strategic value for the State. APAM strengthens WA’s international cultural profile, positioning Perth as a global meeting point for artistic exchange, creative innovation and cultural diplomacy. It attracted international participants, hosted numerous events across various locations and had flow economic benefits in the event and hospitality sectors.
