Pregnancy terminations
294. Hon Maryka Groenewald to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I
refer to question without notice 264, in which the minister stated that babies
who survive terminations are legal persons entitled to the same care as any
other newborn.
(1) Can the minister reconcile this claim
with the answers given previously in this place that there was no record of
medical intervention for babies born alive after abortion procedures between
1999 and 2016?
(2) Can the minister provide evidence that
all babies born alive following a termination procedure in WA have in fact
received medical care?
(3) If no to (2), why not?
The President: Again, that seems to be asking for a
lot of information over a short period of time, but I will give the call to
Hon Pierre Yang.
