I refer to the Auditor General Amendment Bill 2022 and I ask:
(a) Has this Bill passed both Houses of Parliament:
(i) if so, on what date was it presented for Royal Assent;
(b) If the Bill has not received Royal Assent:
(i) what is the reason for the delay; and
(ii) has the Bill been withheld from assent, and if so, by whom and under what authority;
(c) Has the Government received any legal or constitutional advice regarding the Bill’s progression to assent:
(i) if yes, will the Minister table that advice;
(d) What is the current status of the Bill, including:
(i) Whether it remains before the Governor for assent;
(ii) Whether it has lapsed or been set aside; and
(iii) Whether any amendments are being considered;
(e) What was the original policy intent of the Bill, including:
(i) what specific changes to the powers, functions, or independence of the Auditor General were proposed;
(ii) whether the Bill was intended to expand or limit the Auditor General’s oversight capacity; and
(iii) what consultation was undertaken with the Office of the Auditor General prior to introduction;
(f) Has the Government altered its position on the Bill since its introduction:
(i) If yes, what has changed and why; and
(ii) On what date did that change in position occur;
(g) Does the Government intend to proceed with the Bill in its current form:
(i) If yes, when does the Government expect the Bill to receive Royal Assent; and
(ii) If no, why not;
(h) Will the Government withdraw the Bill:
(i) if yes, when will this occur; and
(ii) if no, why does the Government consider it appropriate to leave the Bill unresolved;
(i) Has the delay in progressing the Bill had any impact on:
(i) The operations of the Office of the Auditor General; and
(ii) Public sector accountability or oversight; and
(j) Are there any other Auditor General–related reforms currently under consideration by the Government:
