I refer to the
government's Aboriginal Heritage Survey Program (AHSP).
(1) On what day did the AHSP begin?
(2) What total amount is budgeted for the
full duration of the AHSP?
(3) Is the amount in (2) included in the
WA state budget?
(4) If yes to (3), can the minister
identify the line item for (2) in the budget?
(5) How many applications for the program
have been received so far?
(6) What is the total amount paid to
applicants so far?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I answer on behalf of the
minister representing the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. The following
response has been provided by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.
(1) Applications open on 2 April 2024.
Funding commenced from 1 July 2024.
(2) It is $50 million.
(3) Yes.
(4) The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage
Survey Program is part of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage's
total appropriation and expenses.
(5) It is 75.
(6) Contracts to the total value of
$1.98 million have been issued covering 36 surveys.
