Question

I refer to public housing in the Pilbara region, and I ask:(a) please provide a breakdown of public housing properties by local government area; and(b) for those listed in (a), please provide a breakdown by agency and for each, provide a breakdown by properties that are:(i) occupied;(ii) unoccupied and available; and(iii) unoccupied requiring maintenance or refurbishment?

Answer

a-b) All public housing is owned and managed by the Housing Authority As at 28 February 2026, there were 1,475 Public Housing properties in the Pilbara Region. Occupancy rate is always a single point in time number that fluctuates for a range of reasons. Properties may be awaiting acceptance of offers from applicants or undergoing maintenance repairs or refurbishment prior to new occupants moving in. In the Shire of Ashburton: 82, of which 66 were occupied, and an additional eight returning to service. In the Shire of East Pilbara: 109, of which 92 were occupied, and an additional 13 returning to service. In the City of Karratha: 683, of which 617 were occupied, and an additional 42 returning to service. In the Town of Port Hedland: 601, of which 522 were occupied, and an additional 55 returning to service.
