Question
I refer to the Minister's answer to question on notice 547 and I note that despite providing the question on notice, asking for specific figures for the month of March in relation to dead running of PTA trains, the Minister responded with no data at all and simply stated "Dead running has increased on the network recently", and I ask:(a) for the seven days between 3 March 2025 to 9 March 2025, how many kilometres did PTA trains travel in total on each of the following lines:(i) Joondalup/Yanchep; and(ii) Mandurah;(b) for each of the figures in (a), how many of those kilometres of travel per each train line took place when the trains were empty of passengers (dead running); and(c) in relation to both (a) and (b), what are the corresponding figures for the seven days between 4 March 2024 and 10 March 2024?

(a) for the seven days between 3 March 2025 to 9 March 2025, how many kilometres did PTA trains travel in total on each of the following lines:
(i) Joondalup/Yanchep; and
(ii) Mandurah;
(b) for each of the figures in (a), how many of those kilometres of travel per each train line took place when the trains were empty of passengers (dead running); and
(c) in relation to both (a) and (b), what are the corresponding figures for the seven days between 4 March 2024 and 10 March 2024?
Answer
(a) For the period 3/3/2025 – 9/3/2025
Revenue kms:
(i) Yanchep – 68,479
(ii) Mandurah – 84,872
(b) Non-revenue kms:
Yanchep – 11,403
Mandurah – 4,596.
It should be noted that due to Perth Station being closed on 9 March 2025, trains from Nowergup and Mandurah Depots were operating Fremantle Line services, resulting in more non-revenue running on the Mandurah Line than normal.
(c) For the Period 4/3/2024 – 10/3/2024 (prior to opening of Yanchep extension)
Revenue kms:
(i) Yanchep – 49,345
(ii) Mandurah – 82,277
Non-revenue kms:
Yanchep – 3,207
Mandurah – 3,230
