Gas—Export tax
274. Hon Sophie McNeill to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to Premier
Cook admitting that he personally lobbied Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
against imposing a new tax on gas exports.
(1) In the past two months, has the
Premier or his representatives had meetings with representatives from gas
companies or gas industry bodies where a tax on gas exports was discussed; and,
if yes, how many meetings and who were those meetings with?
(2) How many conversations did the
Premier or representatives of the Premier have with the Prime Minister where
the issue of a tax on gas exports was discussed?

I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The Premier met with BP once and with the
Prime Minister once since 1 March 2026. A tax on gas was not on the agenda
