Synergy—Wind farms—Power purchase agreements
362. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
minister's answers to my questions without notice 273 and 311 asked on 5 and 7
May.
(1) Did the
Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation give any directions to Synergy in
relation to power purchase agreements or offtake agreements for gas
generation in 2025 or 2026?
(2) If yes to (1), when, and can the
minister please provide a copy of those directions?
(3) Did Synergy conduct an expression of
interest process for gas generation in 2025 or 2026?
(4) Did Synergy undertake discussions in
2025 or 2026 with private providers for the potential supply of additional gas
generation?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) Not applicable.
(3)–(4) Synergy released an EOI for energy supply
agreements in August 2025. The EOI did not specify generation type. Synergy is
reviewing proposals, and discussions remain commercial-in-confidence.
