Question

I refer to the Report on Overseas Air Travel for the 3 months to 31 December 2024 and a trip to New Zealand to attend the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) for I Oroz-Bootsma and M Watson. Can the Minister please advise:(a) What were the dates for the program;(b) Why does the report show that I Oroz-Bootsma attended from 17 November to 20 November, and M Watson is shown attending the same program from 17 November to 23 November; and(c) How were the additional three days that M Watson was shown as attending the same program as I Oroz-Bootsma used?

Answer

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises: (a) 19 to 20 November 2024 for Ivana Oroz-Bootsma, Director Office of the Commissioner, who graduated the 2023 EMPA program and 19 to 22 November 2024 for Matthew Watson, Acting Director Human Resources and Safety, who commenced the 2024 EMPA program. (b-c) Ivana Oroz-Bootsma delivered her cohort’s final research project presentation to ANZSOG and fellow colleagues. At the conclusion of the presentations, graduated from the program. First year students are required to attend these final project presentations, as well as the mandatory face-to-face units of intensive teaching, class preparation, research and assignment work over the course of the week.
