I refer to Tourism WA's annual report (2024-25) that reports aggregate major-events Return on Investment (ROI), although the Government continues to refuse to disclose event-by-event costs. The annual report says KPI 6 is the “ratio of direct economic return to Tourism WA’s investment” for major events, with a 2024-25 target of 2.3:1 and actual of 2.8:1; however, that figure is based on 16 actual event results and 8 estimated results, not all final results, and I ask:
(a) Will the Minister now confirm the total taxpayer contribution to Calcio Italiano, including event acquisition fees, sponsorship payments, venue costs, activation costs, marketing, policing, transport, security, hospitality, travel support and any in-kind government support;
(b) Is the reported $11 million cost of Calcio Italiano accurate; and if not, what is the correct figure to the nearest $100,000;
(c) If $11 million is accurate, does the Minister accept that, based on 20,000 tickets reportedly sold as at 20 May, the taxpayer subsidy was equivalent to $550 per ticket sold at that point;
(d) What proportion of the total taxpayer contribution is a direct payment to event organisers, rights holders, clubs, and promotions;
(e) How many separate contracts, memoranda of understanding or grant agreements has the Government entered into for Calcio Italiano;
(f) Tourism WA’s annual report says the major-events ROI target is 2.3:1. What is the forecast ROI for Calcio Italiano;
(g) If the event costs $11 million, does the Minister accept it would need to generate at least $25.3 million in direct economic return merely to meet Tourism WA’s 2.3:1 target; and
(h) What is the minimum direct economic return required for Calcio Italiano to be considered a success?
