Women's walk trail—Fremantle Cemetery
197. Hon Dr Brian Walker to the minister
representing the Minister for Women:
I refer the minister
to the announcement that Fremantle Cemetery will create a historical women's
walk trail to honour the lives and achievements of some of the notable women
interred there. I welcome this news.
(1) Has the minister had an opportunity
to liaise with her colleague the Minister for Local Government, who retains
oversight of the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, to discuss exempting these and
other significant graves from any future application of the board's renewal
program at Fremantle Cemetery?
(2) If not, will she undertake to do so
as a matter of some urgency, with an aim to sharing any concerns or
reassurances she can with the Parliament?
