Empowered Communities program—Funding
339. Hon Julie Freeman to
the Minister for Community Services :
I refer to the
Empowered Communities program delivered through the Department of Communities.
(1) For each community centre that
receives funding as part of this program, can the minister please detail the
total amount of funding allocated to each centre in
(a) 2024–25;
(b) 2025–26; and
(c) 2026–27?
(2) Noting that the program is contracted
through to June 2029 but has not been re-costed in over six years, will the
government commit to a funding increase so that centres can sustain current
program delivery?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The Department of Communities funds
the following centres to deliver Empowered Communities programs across Western
Australia. I table a list of centres funded through the empowering communities
program.
(See paper 1160.)
(2) The Empowered Communities program
receives annual funding increases in line with the Western Australian
Government's non-government human services indexation policy. Communities
intends to undertake a recommissioning process ahead of the expiry of the
current contracts on 30 June 2029.
