Indian Ocean Drive upgrades
346. Hon Julie Freeman to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to question
on notice 1198 and the executive summary of the 2023 Indian Ocean Drive planning
study provided in response.
(1) Why did
the government provide only the four-page executive summary in response to my
question on notice rather than tabling the full 91-page report?
(2) Will the minister now table the full report
and, if not, why not?
(3) Given the report estimates that
upgrades to this section of Indian Ocean Drive could reduce killed and serious
injury crashes by approximately 80%, why is there no dedicated funding
allocation in the state budget to progress these upgrades?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) The Cook Labor government has invested
significant funds to upgrade Indian Ocean Drive over successive years. Over $20 million
is allocated in 2026–27 for upgrades between Jurien Bay and Brand Highway.
