(a) Providers of Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) must register their property with the STRA Register. A valid STRA registration is required in order to advertise or take bookings.
The Commissioner for Consumer Protection (the Commissioner) may cancel or suspend registration on prescribed grounds, including where the property cannot be lawfully used for STRA.
(b) The Commissioner accepts reports, including from local governments, about alleged non-compliances by STRA providers. Reports are investigated as appropriate. For reason of non-compliance, there have been three decisions to suspend a registration and five decisions to cancel.
