I refer to the Minister's answers to Questions on Notice 2053 to 2056 (answered 14 May 2026). As the privatisation of the Albany Gas Distribution System by a previous government is not in dispute, and the following questions relate solely to this Government's conduct since January 2026, I ask:
(a) Has the Government commissioned any independent assessment, engineering, economic, or financial, of ATCO's claim that replacement or upgrade of the network would cost $80 million;
(b) If no independent assessment has been commissioned, what evidentiary basis is the Government relying upon in accepting ATCO's $80 million figure;
(c) What is the Government's estimate of the average cost per household for a private residential customer in Albany to replace gas appliances and transition to either bottled LPG or full electrification;
(d) What modelling has the Government undertaken or commissioned of the additional electrical infrastructure capacity required in Albany to support 8,000 properties transitioning from reticulated gas to electric appliances, and what is the estimated cost of that infrastructure;
(e) What is the Government's assessment of the total cost of the transition to private households and businesses in Albany, and what funding has the Government committed to meet that cost beyond the $1.8 million allocated for planning; and
(f) Does the Government consider that $1.8 million in planning funding, of which $676,000 has already been expended, constitutes an adequate government response to the loss of essential energy infrastructure serving approximately 8,000 Albany connections and approximately half the population of Albany?
