Energy—Next Generation Schools Program
289. Hon Sophie McNeill to the minister representing
the Minister for Youth:
I refer to the Next
Generation Schools Program run by the Energy Club WA, which lists the
Department of Communities as a sponsor, alongside fossil fuel companies
Woodside, Chevron and ExxonMobil.
(1) How much money did the department
contribute to this program?
(2) How many WA schools are part of this
program?
(3) Was the department consulted on the
program's content, including the topic titled "Gas, coal, diesel, LNG: Why
they are still critical today"?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following response has
been provided by the Minister for Youth.
(1)–(3) The Department of Communities advises
that a $10,000—excluding GST—grant was awarded for the Next Generation Schools
Program that has approximately 1,800 students from 29 schools participating in
the program. The grant proposal was assessed against the grant program
criteria.
