❓ Hon Rod Caddies questions the Treasurer regarding the $100 fuel support payment, specifically eligibility for non-residents, means-testing, payment method, and the justification for the 'fuel support' label. The Treasurer confirms eligibility based on WA driver's license, learner's permit or extraordinary license, and that the payment is designed to offset cost-of-living expenses.

Fuel support payment
347. Hon Rod Caddies to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Treasurer:
I refer to the
government's announcement that all Western Australian driver's licence holders
are eligible for a $100 cost-of-living fuel support payment.
(1) Can the Treasurer confirm whether
people who do not reside in Western Australia but hold a valid WA driver's
licence are eligible for the $100 payment?
(2) Can the Treasurer confirm that the
$100 payment will not be means-tested?
(3) Can the Treasurer confirm that the
fuel support payment will be made as a one-off cash deposit of $100 directly
into the recipient's nominated bank account via the ServiceWA app or
alternative claiming methods, with no restrictions on how the funds may be
spent?
(4) If yes to (3), why has the government
chosen to call this payment a fuel support payment when recipients can use the $100
on any goods and services they choose?
