the minister representing the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the current
process of daily reporting to the minister and the director general of any
child in care whose whereabouts become unknown.
(1) In what year did this reporting
process commence?
(2) In light of this passage of time, has
the minister or the director general commissioned any research or analysis to
identify the proportion of such cases that are metropolitan, regional or
remote?
(3) If no to (2), is the minister aware
of any such work already undertaken by the department?
(4) If no to
(3), will the minister undertake to consider having such work undertaken and
report the findings to the house?
(5) If no to (4), why not?

been provided by the Minister for Child Protection.
(1) It was in 2022.
(2) No.
(3)–(5) The Department of Communities has
continued to provide information relating to missing and/or unaccounted for
children in care to the relevant minister since 2022. Communities has a
professional and highly qualified child protection workforce and it has clear
practice guidelines in place. Communities also takes a continuous improvement
approach to all practices and procedures.
