These regulations amend the Gas Standards (Gas Supply and System Safety) Regulations 2000 to include provisions for decommissioning inoperative gas distribution systems, including notification requirements, decommissioning procedures, and responsibilities of network operators.
Network operators are affected by new requirements to notify the Director of proposed decommissioning activities, implement decommissioning plans, and adhere to specific decommissioning procedures. Transferees of inoperative systems also become subject to these requirements. Consumers may experience temporary disruptions during decommissioning.
