These regulations amend the Road Traffic (Authorisation to Drive) Regulations 2014 to address driver shortages and administrative impediments related to COVID-19 and to later remove those temporary provisions.
The regulations temporarily allowed the CEO to exercise powers to address driver shortages and administrative issues caused by COVID-19. Once the relevant sections of the Emergency Management Amendment (Temporary COVID-19 Provisions) Act 2022 come into operation, these temporary provisions are removed.
